Ball and Claw Footstool

Ball and Claw Footstool

A beautiful Chippendale footstool. Found in a home south of Petersburg, this stool has beautiful legs. The carved shells on the knees coupled with the gorgeous ball and claw feet really make a statement. Each leg is solid mahogany and has a great old, possibly original, finish. Standing 19” tall, it is 18” wide and 2’ long. Look closely at the elegant bend in the cabrio legs…beautiful!

Overall, it is our belief that the legs are period. They were most likely chair legs from a matched pair of chairs. The chairs were probably damaged at some point. The legs were then salvaged and repurposed into the piece you see today. In “as found” condition. Probably British. Circa 1775 and Circa 1910.
