Imari Lidded Dish
A cute, small Imari dish with its original lid. The shape and style of this piece are very rare. This hexagon shaped piece has influences from the naturalist movement that permeated society in the later part of the 19th century. The lip on the lower half tries to emulate twigs. Furthermore, the handle on the lidded appears to be a rolled leaf. The art on the lid is actually cut into the lid so it is truly 3 dimensional. It stands only 4″ tall and is 5 1/2″ in diameter. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. Japanese. Circa 1890.
