Pair of Torchieres
A beautiful pair of mahogany torchieres with fantastic carvings. Bench made during the late 1800’s, these look 1760 and the style of the carvings echo the early feel.The quality of the carvings on the column, base, and legs are simply awesome! Originally, torchieres, or torcheres, were tall portable stands for candlesticks. Today, we use them as accent pieces. Each torchiere stands 54 ½” tall. The tops are 10 ¼” in diameter. Made out of solid mahogany, there is no secondary wood. The finish appears to be original and the condition excellent.
