Regency Chest with Bookcase Top
A beautiful chest with bookcase top from the Regency period in England. This two part piece is made out of mahogany and deal. The front is all mahogany with beautiful flame mahogany veneered panels in the doors. The broken arch top really helps make the piece. The sides were originally grain painted to look like mahogany. There is still some of the original coloring left. The top interior is split in two and has some unusual shelving that would have been a custom order. It stands 7’6” tall, 20 1/4” deep, and 47 ¼” wide. The feet and hardware are all original. English. Circa 1810.
(Please note that this particularly piece was very difficult to photograph. It is very pretty in person. While the door panels are lighter, the rest of the piece is remarkably consistent in color.)
