This beautiful, solid walnut dining room table is most impressive. When seen for the first time, the soft warmth of the walnut is what one first notices. Next, the sheer size of the table is impressive. At 54” in width, this table was made for large family gatherings. It stretches to sit 12 easily at 136” in total length when all 6 leaves are in. One of the leaves is original while the rest were made by us. The leaves are approximately 14” wide each. With no leaves in it, the table is 54” by 53 ½”. Lastly, there are the legs. WOW! The Victorian, cabrio legs are a favorite. They can be dressed up or down and go with any chair. Look closely at the knees and one will see acthanus leaf carvings. Another wonderful detail. All in all, this table is a site to see. The two center legs are period to the table but not original. (However, they actually fit the original holes. It is like they were destined to go with this table!) This table was most likely made just before the Civil War, around 1865. American.
