A beautiful, solid walnut tester bed. Commonly referred to as a canopy bed, this bed is in outstanding condition. First and foremost, the rails have been lengthened so it will take a queen size mattress. The mattress can be conventional or air.Overall, the bed retains a wonderful old finish that has the luster everyone loves so much. It also retains its original brass caps on the feet. (These are not currently polished but they can be upon purchase.) However, it is the posts that take the show. They have wonderful rope bed turnings along with an acorn finial at the top. (One simply does not see the acorn finial on tester beds.) Even the headboard has its original acorn finial in the center of the broken arch. The canopy is missing like virtually every other antique canopy bed. It would have been a simple piece of wood that fabric would have been tacked too. The pins are still visible but are removable as well. Lastly, the rails are pine. It measures 91″ long, 62 7/8″ wide, and 90″ tall. It is ready to go! American. Circa 1820.
Price: $3995
Please note that the picture of the finial at the top of the post and the picture of the headboard are the most accurate.
