This is one of the must unusual platters we have had the honor of owning. It is an electric blue and white platter in the shape of a fan. The colors are bold and beautiful. It almost feels like it is “powered” by electricity it is so brilliant.The platter feature a huge Japanese crawdad. These animals are found in the northern part of Japan. The art subject of crawdads is unusual because Imari and Arita come from the most southern part of the island. Geographically, they are opposites which makes this piece even more desirable. The size is another great addition to this platter. It is 17″ wide and 12 5/8″ tall. Lastly, it is signed on the back by Master Fukagawa himself. This is an extarordinary find! All in all, this piece is nothing short of “cool”. Japanese. Circa 1885-1895.
