An absolutely stunning pair of signed, Arita vases. This pair is nothing short of spectacular. First, they are “the perfect size” at 10 3/8″ tall and 6 1/2″ in diameter. Second, look at the art!!! So beautiful. They feature a dragon in the large circles and phoenixes flying around on a white background. There is lot of detailed gold work all over them. Even the interior lip of the opening is decorated. The final item of note is the signature on the bottom. We would have thought they were Imari but the signature states Nizen Arita. Please remember that Imari was a city in the Arita region. Only items produced in Imari can be called that. However, the rest of the Arita region was very aware of what Imari was doing and were trying to copy the “Imari” style. I would say they nailed it here! Japan. Circa 1895.
Price: $1995 for the pair
Please note that the background is a bright white and the overall color is quite beautiful.
