American Shaving Stand
An outstanding, American shaving stand, or dressing mirror, is made out of mahogany. This is the best shaving stand we have ever owned! Made at the end of the 18th century, the craftmanship on this piece is something to see. First, the shield framed mirror catches the eye. Shield backs are the most desirable and rare. Second, the barber pole and fan inlays really pop out against the dark mahogany. Next, one notices the original bone pulls. Finally, the rich mahogany wood and glorious finish. Standing 18 ½” tall, it is 14” wide and 7 ½” deep. Even the ogee feet are original. Poplar and white pine secondary. Circa 1790.
