A delightful Chinese export mug in the shape of a barrel. It is covered in polychrome enamels. The top has a trellis diaper-floral border above the scrolling.The main body of the mug features 6 poppy and other blossoms and two flying butterflies. It is the butterflies that steal the show. Look closely at the detail. It is amazing. The base has a very delicate spearhead boarder. The handle is molded with fern décor and 2 molded heart appliques. It is 5 3/8″ tall and has a diameter of 4″ in the middle. There is a tiny chip in the rim. Qianlong period. 18th century.
