Chippendale Mule Chest, Circa 1750-1785
A solid mahogany, Chippendale mule chest with the original finish. The feet and bone escutcheon are original as well. Overall, this chest is in amazing condition.
The top row of drawers are false and can only be accessed through the top. The top his hinged at the 3/4 mark and opens for nice storage. The bottom two row of drawers are actual drawers. The drawer pulls are replaced and the brass in them can be polished up or tone down, per request. It measures 56 1/4″ wide, 21 1/8″ deep, and 39 1/2″ tall. What a great size! The arched apron is very unusual for a chest of this age. The bone escutcheon really pop off the darker mahogany. The finish is darker and richer than it appears here. The closest I could get to an accurate color picture is the one of the top. It looks even better than that one. English. Circa 1750-1785
Price: $6950
