Demilune Sideboard

An incredibly rare, American, Demilune sideboard. The wood and inlay really make this piece pop. It is both, beautiful and functional. It has great storage with 3 drawers and 3 doors too. The size is just great at 38 1/8” tall, 23 ¾” deep, and 48” wide. Thus, this piece can be used in a number of different places. No matter how great all of this is, what really sets this piece apart are the top drawers. Both of the top, outside drawers swivel out. Yes, swivel! This is original and very unusual. (and very cool!) Demilune sideboards are not easy to come by but when one does find one it is almost always English. This one is American! Made out of mahogany with poplar and chestnut secondary woods; there can be no doubt which side of the Atlantic this piece came from. There is a blemish on the top towards the front on the left. It looks like a knot. However, under close scrutiny, it is not. The pictures show it very accurately. More than likely, it was made in Massachusetts. Circa 1790.
