This is a lovely, oak barrister bookcase. Commonly called a stack bookcase, these are very functional for holding books and other “collected” items. It is a great size at 63 3/4″ tall, 34″ wide, and 9 3/4″ deep.Made by Globe Wernicke, these bookcases were some of the first “mail order” furniture. One could order however many sections one wanted. Then reorder additional ones at a later date. They would be guaranteed to fit and match even 20+ years later. This one is a prime example. Look at the labels. One pair is from the company’s early years in business and the other somewhere after 1910. Lastly, the top and bottoms are handmade replacements. We bought the piece “as is”. They look and work great but they are about 30 years old. American. Circa 1910.
