A very unusually Imari platter in the shape of a shell. The shell form is typically seen in Chinese pieces but it is very unusual for Imari.It is asymmetrically shaped and painted which gives it a bit of whimsy. Overall, it is 12″ wide and 10 5/8″ deep. This makes it the largest piece of this type we have seen. Japanese. Circa 1885.
