Imari Vase by Fukagawa

Imari Vase by Fukagawa

A magnificent, signed Imari vase. Standing 9 ¾” tall, this vase is a show stopper. Whether one has the flowers facing out or the Japanese men, this piece is a show stopper!First, the blue is lighter and more vibrant than what one normally sees. It almost leaps off the vase. Second, the gold is overlays on top of the blue really pop as a result. But as always, it is the attention to detail, a Fukagawa standard, that steals the show. For example, look closely at the area just above to panels. There are red dots incorporated into the gold decorations. Another example, the base is footed. The white “line” near the base is simple edge that was put in and left, purposefully, undecorated. This allows the foot of the vase to be distinguished from a distance. At 7 ¼” in diameter, the size and form are delightful. Lastly, it is signed by Fukagawa with the red Koransha orchid. All in all, this piece is amazing!  Japanese Circa 1900.
