Mahogany Tall Case Clock

A fine mahogany tall case clock, or more commonly known as a grandfather, clock. Standing only 7 5” tall, this clock isn’t nearly as large as most are. Yet, it still manages to carry itself well.Made out of solid mahogany, the bonnet features a broken arch above a pair of lovely inset panels. The rosettes at the end of the arches are original. The columns on the bonnet are fluted as are the quarter columns on the waist. The door on the waist showcases stunning mahogany. Even the mahogany on the base is figured. While the feet are replaced (by us), the rest of the clock appears to be original. The painted dial and works are original too. The dial is signed “Cockburn, Haddington”. This is most likely the clock maker Adam Cockburn of Haddington, Scotland. The 8 day works have been professionally restored and are ready to go. Overall, it is 20 ¾” wide, and 9 ¾” deep at the bonnet. This is a pretty clock that will look amazing in an 8’ ceiling. Scotland, Circa 1805.

Price: $6995

Please note that the finish on either side of the bonnet is a bit darker than the rest of the case. This is fairly common and can be attributed to age and care. More than likely those areas where not “cleaned” as often as the rest of the clock. This would allow the finish to darken as it ages.
