North Carolina Sideboard

A beautiful, inlaid sideboard from North Carolina. Made out of solid walnut, this piece features bell flower inlay at the top of the legs with string inlay below and inlay on all the doors and drawers. It is a great blend of sophistication and rural independence. Look closely at the doors and the keyhole escutcheon. One will notice that the cabinet maker only had access to drawer locks and had to mount them sideways! It’s details like this that really set this piece apart. Standing 38 1/4″ tall, it is a great size at 67″ wide, and 22 3/4″ deep. It has been refinished and the top has been replaced at some point in the last 100 years. Thankfully, the work is very well done and one would not know it unless told. American. Circa 1810-1830.
