This is without a doubt the most ornately carved Chippendale fire screen we have had the honor of selling. It is in outstanding condition. Where does one even start? All of it except for the adjustable column is carved. ALL OF IT!From the finial to the toes, this piece has everything a great Chippendale piece could ask for. From fluting to hairy ball and claw feet, it is all there. Even the fire screen has gadrooning on each side of the frame…and even on the side edge of the frame! Who does that??? The finish is in outstanding condition. While it is old, we believe the finish is on this side of World War II. The piece itself dates 1750’s-1770’s. It stands 65″ tall and the screen is 20 1/2″ by 18 1/4″. English.
