Petite North Carolina Stepback Cupboard

A wonderfully, petite stepback cupboard. This beautiful piece features a broken pediment with wood finial. The doors are paneled at on the top and have cockbeaded edges on the lower part. This two part piece has fluted stiles on the upper and lower sections.Furthermore, it features a handmade, replaced linen slide and its original ogee bracket feet. The lower interior has two suspended drawers that are replaced but hand dovetailed. This sweet piece is only 77” tall and 39” wide. The top portion is 16” deep with the lower portion being 22 ½” deep. Made out of a light solid walnut with yellow pine secondary. More than likely this piece was made in central North Carolina, perhaps in the Randolph or Rowan County areas.  Regardless, it is a beautiful North Carolina piece. Circa 1780.
