Pierced Imari Bowl

Pierced Imari Bowl

A lovely, pierced Imari bowl. Imari of this quality are rare. First, the piercings are wonderful. All hand done, there is some minor inconsistencies as one would expect. If one looks closely, one spot never had the piercing completed! The decorations are very nice. The top edge has a bit of the original gold left. The interior shows much less wear. Overall, the color is clean and crisp. The white background offers a nice contrast with the colors. Please note, we had a rough time photographing this piece. The most accurate colors are seen in the pictures that were taken outside. That is how is looks inside. (some of the pictures have a slight yellow hue. The piece does not.) The bowl stands 3 1/2” tall and 7 5/8” diameter. Imari. Circa 1870.
