Description
Little did my parents realize back in the 1950’s that their love of furniture and the care and restoration of furniture, would turn into a full time business for themselves and future generations of our family. For the past 50 years Gates Antiques Ltd. has lovingly restored and sold antique furniture of many forms. We have used a variety of products to achieve the finest end result including Old English Red Oil and Black’s Original Antique Blend For Furniture. As all of these products are no longer available, we are proud to debut our very own GATES RED OIL for furniture.
GATES RED OIL for furniture is a wonderful product that we are offering for your use in your home. It can be used for everyday dusting, light to heavy finish cleaning, and finish rejuvenation. This product is SILICONE FREE . This is very important for a variety of reasons. Silicone is normally added to furniture care products, and silicone penetrates any finish and bonds to the wood surface itself. Therefore, if any refinishing or touch-up work is required, the silicone acts as a barrier and it becomes very difficult to get the new finishes to adhere to the wood surfaces.
GATES RED OIL for furniture is simple to use. For heavy cleaning and furniture finish rejuvenation, use the oil full strength, apply to a soft cloth then use on your furniture, wipe off excess, and let dry. For everyday dusting you should take spun dry soft cloths, spray GATES Red Oil, let dry, and use. The oil is distributed through the cloth in a “wicking action” as it dries and is then suitable to attract the dust and lightly condition the furniture. You can even prepare your cloths ahead of time and store them for later use. GATES Red Oil used in this manner is excellent for daily dusting. Cloths can then be washed separately and reused. It’s a great way to recycle old cloths.
Since 2016, we have had clients use our red oil on wood guitars. While we are not knowledgeable about guitars, many people seem to love our oil for this exteriors of their guitars. At their “insistence”, we are including this use for our red oil. Our understanding is “a little goes a long way”. One does not put the oil on side of the neck with the frets. This would hinder playing as it would be slick.
We hope you enjoy using our GATES RED OIL for furniture. Gates Red Oil has received a “Made in Virginia” award from Virginia Living Magazine for 2018!
