Queen Anne Tiered End Table

Queen Anne Tiered End Table

This is one of the most unique tables we have ever owned. While it is a dumb waiter, technically, it really works as an outstanding end table for a settee or chair. First,  it stands 25 ½” tall and 16 3/8” in diameter. Originally, this would have sat on a table(see pictures) or sideboard and food, most likely desert, would have been served off of it. As a result of the table being so high up in the air, the underside of the shelves are actually prettier than the top! However, today it makes a fantastic end table because it is only 25 ½” tall. Imagine sitting in an upholstered piece with a glass of tea or wine and reaching over to rest the glass on it. It is the perfect height for use in a living room, study, or den. The lower shelf could be a convenient place to put remotes or cell phones out of sight. All in all, the variety of uses for this table are considerable.

Getting back to the table, look at the wonderfully, rich finish. The luster is outstanding. It does show a bit of wear on the lower shelf but the top one is in surprisingly good shape. There have been a few repairs to the base and there is a bit of the column missing just above the second shelf. However, none of this deters us from loving or using the table. Mahogany. Queen Anne. English. Circa 1750-1775.
