Split Pedestal, Dining Room Table

Here one sees a classic, Victorian, split pedestal, dining room table. However “classic” this may be, we have never seen nor owned one like this. The overall form is exactly what I described but look at the detail. First, there are fully, 3 dimensional rings carved out of the legs on the base. That’s right, carved out of the legs…not glued on. They are bold and beautiful and give the piece… some majesty. Then there is the apron. Aprons are not supposed to be paneled in burl walnut on a dining table. Not only is it paneled, but it is segmented. This gives the table even more style. The walnut used in the top is varied in color which allows this table to fit into a wider range of colors/wood types than many other tables. All in all, the pedestals and apron really make this table. It is 52 3/8″ wide, 104 1/4″ long with all four leaves, and 29″ tall. American. Circa 1840.

Price: $3995
