“Extraordinary”, “Wow”, “That’s just adorable” are just some of the words that can be used to describe this petite sideboard. Made in England, it is built of out of English Pine, or Deal.Overall, it is only 42 1/4″ wide, 34 1/4 “tall, and 18 7/8″ deep. Yes, that is not a typo. It is 42 1/4″ wide and 34 1/4” tall! As one can see, there are some old separations on the top and the door fronts but all have been repaired. The tiny backsplash was probably meant to keep something from rolling off but it is original. The knobs are delightful. The only thing it is missing is a second drawer under the center one. It appears to have had one but it has been gone for at least 100 years. Lastly, the Chippendale, not Hepplewhite, legs are delightful. The tapered leg would have been to spindly on such a delicate piece. So, the cabinet maker with a classic, Chippendale straight leg. All in all, this is a great “country” piece that can be used in a host of locations and ways within your home. English or Welsh. Circa 1800.
