A beautiful pair of Imari chargers with a diameter of 18 ¾”. Look closely at the scenes pictured; each with a different tree (pine, bamboo, and plum). There are three trees represent general happiness.Sometimes they can represent longevity, good fortune, and steadfastness too. One of the chargers is in excellent condition while the other one has been professionally restored. It is common for pairs of chargers over 18” in diameter to have at least one repaired. The last picture shows the only visual damage. The repair is more visible only when lit with a blacklight. Japanese. Circa 1885.
