A commanding piece, this Butler’s secretary sure does grab one’s eye. The curved mullions are simply outstanding and the wavy glass is delightful. Look closely at the cornice. It features dental work and an Arabic arch.Next is the base, all of the feet and hardware are original. The interior features satin wood veneered drawer and door fronts with a leather writing surface. It stands 7′ 4 3/4″ tall, 43 1/4″ wide and 23″ deep too. While the feet are a simple Chippendale bracket foot, the rest of the piece screams Hepplewhite. The only knock on it is a light ring mark on the top, right corner of the base. Good pictures of it are included. This does not alter our opinion on the piece one bit. All in all, this piece is totally original. English. Circa 1790.
