This is a lovely San Domingo mahogany, slant front desk. The first thing one notices is the serpentine front. It is beautiful! Following the front, the ogee bracket feet and carved shell relief on the base stand out nicely. A beautiful oil painting on canvas. Titled “The Aunt’s Visit” by L Delachaux. The aunt has just bestowed gifts to her niece of a china bisque doll and treats (fruit and candies) to her nephew. She is seated, holding an orange. The niece looking longingly at the orange hoping the aunt will give a piece. Shockingly, the doll lays on the floor behind her while her brother digs in. (more…)

A beautiful, serpentine four drawer chest. Made out of solid cherry, this chest has a lot going for it. First, it has a serpentine, blockfront. This means that the serpentine flattens out at the edge. This is more difficult to make and thus “better”. Second, it has all of its original hardware and feet. Indeed, those pulls are original.
