A beautiful oil painting on canvas. Titled “The Aunt’s Visit” by L Delachaux. The aunt has just bestowed gifts to her niece of a china bisque doll and treats (fruit and candies) to her nephew. A beautiful, serpentine four drawer chest. Made out of solid cherry, this chest has a lot going for it. First, it has a serpentine, blockfront. This means that the serpentine flattens out at the edge. This is more difficult to make and thus “better”. Second, it has all of its original hardware and feet. Indeed, those pulls are original. These are some of the first words that come to mind when one first sees this piece. First, to say it is “amazing, stunning, or unbelievable” simply doesn’t do it.
