Miniature Chest of Drawers
This miniature, or child’s, chest of drawers is all original. Nothing has been replaced or altered. Dating from the 1840’s or 1850’s, it was produced in England.
The top is 12 3/4″ wide and 7 1/2″ deep. It is 12 7/8″ tall. For decades, pieces like this were called “salesman’s samples”. Through scholarship, we now know these were either children’s toys or made at this size for a purpose. The drawers are flanked by smooth, quarter columns. English. Circa 1850.
