A striking pair of Imari vases features bold decorations. This beautiful pair of vases really catches the eye at 11 5/8” tall and 6 ½” in diameter. Look closely at the decorations.The large blue and gold feathers are rarely seen and really demand attention. This motif is repeated around the neck of the vase in smaller sets. The panels feature flowers or flowers with a peacock or phoenix. (Typically, this animal is considered a stylized phoenix but this one bears a striking similarity to a peacock.) All in all, they are in outstanding condition and really are magnificent. Japanese. Circa 1885.
