Rare Chest on Stand
A nice English Oak, chest on its original stand. Chests like this are rare due to the ease in which the bases were lost. Made during the early 18th century, it is always amazing to find a 2 part piece that is still together. Standing 48” tall, this chest is only 38 ¼” wide and 21 ½” deep. The Queen Anne, pad feet are in very good condition. While the brass is not original, they are historically correct and really make the piece. Like most English Oak pieces that are 300 years old, this chest does have some shrinkage on the sides and some repairs to the overall case and drawers. All in all, this is a nice, functional chest that is reasonably priced. English. Circa 1730.
Please note that this piece was very difficult to photograph. The best pictures for actual color are the overall pictures and the closeup of the hardware.
