River Landscape Oil on Canvas

A stunning, river landscape oil painting on canvas in its original frame. This beautiful painting was created in 1880. It features a river, road, and cattle. If one looks closely in the background there is a small boat with three people on it. Painted by Gamaliel Waldo Beaman (1852-1937), he studied in Paris and Pont Aven, France, exhibited work in Boston in 1883. Next, he displayed his work at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1881,1884, and 1885. His work is archived at the Smithsonian Institute of Art in DC, Hood Art Museum of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, Princeton, and other schools. Beaman is a native of Cambridge, Massachusetts. While the frame is 35” tall and 47” wide, the visible canvas is 23.5” tall and 35.25” wide. The frame is magnificent and appears to be in original condition! Signed and dated 1880.
